BriefLasso frequently asked questions

What is BriefLasso?

BriefLasso is a web app for freelance web designers and small studios that collects website content from clients. You send one link to a checklist, the client uploads files and answers without an account, and automatic reminders go out on day 3, 7 and 14 until everything is in.

How much does BriefLasso cost?

Solo is US$15 per month (1 seat, 10 active projects, 5 GB). Studio is US$39 per month (up to 5 seats, unlimited projects, 25 GB, white-label client page). Lifetime Solo is a one-time US$129, limited to the first 100 buyers. Prices are in US dollars; sales tax may apply.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial and no credit card is needed. You can also try a live demo without signing up at brieflasso.com/demo.

Do my clients need an account?

No. Clients open a private, unguessable link, tick off items, upload files or type answers, and their progress saves automatically.

When does BriefLasso send reminders?

Automatic reminders go to the client on day 3, 7 and 14 after you send the link, and stop as soon as every item is complete. Clients can opt out with one click, and you can send a manual nudge at any time.

How are client logins handled?

Logins go into an encrypted secure-note field rather than email. We still recommend asking clients to add you as a user where possible and to change passwords after launch.

Can I put my own branding on the client page?

Yes, on the Studio plan. The client page shows your logo, name and colour with no "Powered by BriefLasso" footer.

What file types can clients upload?

Images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, SVG), PDF, AI and EPS, PSD, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, ZIP archives, text files and WOFF2 fonts. Each file is checked against its type; anything else, including executables, is rejected.

Who makes BriefLasso?

BriefLasso is made by Cody Johnston and operated by The Weird Canadian in Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

How is BriefLasso different from Content Snare, Google Forms or Dubsado?

BriefLasso is narrower and cheaper: it only collects website content, with ready-made website templates and fixed reminders. Content Snare has more features, Google Forms is free, and Dubsado and HoneyBook handle contracts and invoices. See brieflasso.com/compare for sourced comparisons.
